Let’s take a trip back to 2007, where 17 year old me is just browsing MySpace trying to find new obscure bands I’ve never heard before when I come across the name Pencil Lead Syringe. How could I resist a name like that? Redrum is Murder Backwards starts playing and it’s nothing like I’ve ever heard before. I felt like I was doing something wrong, but I couldn’t get enough of it. This was my introduction into Brutal Death Metal and I had no idea just how obsessed I would get with it in the future.

Hailing from Riverside California, Pencil Lead Syringe have been in the game since 2005 and to this day still work on new material. They are everything you need in Brutal Death Metal; blasts, crawls and some of the meanest gutturals you’ve ever heard. This is a great place to start for those who have never explored the genera.

A Collection of Remnants is a collection of albums and ep’s ranging from 2005-2012. First up is the iconic Suffocated and Embalmed album. Buy Me Bone Storm Or Go To Hell, The Silence Of…, A Night In Terror Tower, this release had banger after banger. Next up is the Redrum Is Murder Backwards ep that came out in 2005 followed by 2006 The Auga Mansa Massacre ep. These are the first things I’d ever heard from the band so they always have a special place in my heart. To end things we have the self titled 2012 ep which is probably my favorite stuff to date.
